Spiritual Assessment
Assessing spiritual growth is central to the mission of Christian education institutions, churches, and Christian nonprofit organizations. And yet helping people to evaluate where they are spiritually and to take practical steps in their growth process can be very challenging. The Spiritual Transformation Inventory 2.0 will help you:
- Get an accurate reading on your constituents’ spiritual development
- Develop spiritual formation efforts that help people take practical steps in their growth process
The Spiritual Transformation Inventory 2.0TM (STI) is a scientifically developed and validated web-based assessment tool, individual report, and curriculum. Dr. Hall developed the STI to meet the need for a broad measure of Christian spirituality that would assess and improve the spiritual impact of organizations and facilitate individuals’ spiritual growth process. As a leading scholar in the integration of psychology and theology/spirituality, and with doctoral training in both clinical psychology (Biola) and measurement and psychometrics (UCLA), Dr. Hall is uniquely qualified to develop spirituality assessment tools.
The STI is based on a relational model of spiritual development (relational spirituality) that explains the process of spiritual growth through relational connections. We live these principles out in five interrelated domains of connection that shape our spiritual development. The Connected Life model (shown below) provides a holistic view of the elements that contribute to spiritual growth throughout our lifetime. The 31 scales of the STI are organized around the five domains of connection in The Connected Life model to help individuals reflect on their spiritual journey.
The STI is designed for junior high through adult ages and is one of the few measures with benchmark norms that provide the basis for comparison scores for individuals and organizations. In addition to numerous nonprofits and churches, the STI has been used by:
- Over 5,000 students from over 50 Christian colleges
- Over 3,000 students from over 40 Christian secondary schools
The STI provides a number of benefits:
- Provides a broad snapshot of an individual’s or group’s spirituality in 31 areas, organized around the The Connected Life model
- Includes open-ended questions that yield rich information about a person’s spiritual experiences
- New user-friendly web system, Teametrics, provides quick access to participant info and raw data
- Ability to seamlessly administer your customized questions along with the STI
Two types of reports are available with the STI:
- Organizational reports provide a comparison of your organization’s scores to benchmark scores from a relevant group. It provides crucial information for planning spiritual formation programs and experiences for Christian schools, colleges, churches, mission agencies, and nonprofits.
- Individual reports provide scores based on national norms. The Connected Life Workbook provides personalized feedback and structured spiritual growth experiences ideal for courses, small groups, mentoring, discipleship, or spiritual direction.
